The water pan links the heat source and food pan. Poor rim support, uneven clearance, distortion, or difficult drainage can make the assembled chafer unstable even when each part looks acceptable alone.
Inspect Support and Clearance
Set the water pan into the frame on a flat surface. Confirm that the rim is supported evenly, the base clears the heat-source area as designed, and the pan does not rock. Install the food pan and lid to check the full stack.

Review Use and Cleaning Access
Staff should be able to manage the intended fill level, remove the pan using approved grip points, and empty it without uncontrolled twisting. Corners, seams, and formed edges should remain accessible to cleaning.

Approve the Matching Set
Record water-pan dimensions, rim profile, frame reference, food-pan match, fill guidance, and drainage method from confirmed instructions. Replace any component that changes support geometry. Approve the water pan by assembled fit, not appearance or nominal size alone.
